Rancho Monovista Learning Center & Guesthouse

This tropical organic green living and learning center is less than 20 minutes outside of San Jose, Costa Rica. Our guesthouse and hostel-dormitory provide different types of accommodation. We are a bio-dynamic organic eco-learning center in Ciudad Colon.

Colon Organica is a recently-converted green living and learning center 2.7 km outside of Ciudad Colon in the Central Valley of Costa Rica. Our 2.7 acre (1.1 ha) property produces more than 100 varieties of organic biodynamic fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and seeds.

We offer learning opportunities in many different subjects. Learn skills in tropical biodynamic organic gardening, cooking tradional Costa Rican meals, raw food and meal preparation, construction and home renovations, homesteading skills like sewing, baking and preserving, and more.

For three years, the owner has hosted over 300 WWOOF volunteers who have come to learn what was available. At times, the number of requests to volunteer with us surpasses the number of volunteers needed. The reason we're creating the Colon Organica Learning and Recreation Center is to allow as many people as possible to come experience Costa Rica and learn in our unique, magical, tropical atmosphere.

Our guesthouse, hostel, campground, and bed & breakfast options suit any budget. Our amenities include:
