An intensive training in traditional and contemporary bamboo construction techniques. During the class we will build the entrance area to our new bunkhouse. Course material includes:

Techniques for cutting, splitting, drilling, bending and making strips out of bamboo
Practical applications on a full-scale building
Use of bamboo for walls, floors and ceilings
Key bamboo design principles
Tools for working with bamboo
On site students can learn from and get inspired by a multitude of naturally built structures that have been constructed at the Ranch and in the small rural community of Mastatal during the last 20 years including many separate bamboo structures. Students will stay at the Ranch’s amazing facilities and in addition to learning about bamboo construction will be exposed to a host of other sustainable living projects including a methane digester, composting toilets, permaculture designed gardens and orchards, fermented food products and much more. It promises to be a fun-filled, productive and instructional course for everyone involved.
