About Me

Bio / Qualifications

About Jessica Petrone, LPC, Ecotherapist

I have always felt strong passion for the healing arts, the natural world, and being of service. It has been an honor to be able to combine these aspects of life in my path.

I received a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Catawba College. I went on to work as a case manager for a homeless shelter before moving to Zambia for two years. During my time in a small rural village, with no running water or electricity, I was met with the fundamental teaching of the importance of balancing the self, community, and the natural world. After serving in the Peace Corps for two years I returned to the U.S., where I re-introduced myself and integrated back into the country, culture, and land that is my home of origin. I camped in the woods while visiting national parks and friends and family for over 7 months before taking a job in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where I got to teach outdoors to kids in the mountains. It was there that I stumbled upon the field of Ecopsychology and Ecotherapy paired with Counseling.

Since starting the path, I have worked with individuals on the streets in homelessness, in an Intensive Out-Patient substance and dual-diagnosis treatment center, with individuals within the judicial system, in a holistic addiction treatment center in the mountains, in a school for young people with emotional and behavioral challenges, in a wilderness therapy program in the jungle of Costa Rica, and in my private practice, both in person and online. My heart goes deep and wide to meet people where they are and to help each individual to start to undo the programming that has been keeping them stuck, while tuning into and accessing the rooted inner wisdom and strength that is waiting to flourish.
