La Asociación de Productores La Amistad (AsoProLA)

The Friendship Producers Association (AsoProLA) was created in March 1997 by farming families from the community of Altamira de Biolley. The association’s origins lie in the international coffee price crisis, which caused significant economic, social, and environmental problems in the Biolley district. For this reason, AsoProLA was founded with the mission of creating development alternatives for the communities surrounding the Biolley district, ensuring the conservation of the natural resources of La Amistad International Park (PILA) and the local communities.

Comprised of 72 members and more than 200 beneficiaries, our organization engages in various productive activities, generating social, environmental, and economic development.

Our activities include:

• Sustainable coffee production, marketing, and processing.
• Production and marketing of pure honey.
• Making jams from local fruits.
• Community-based rural tourism.
