Asociación de Productores Orgánicos de la Región Brunca (ASOORGANICOS)

ASOORGÁNICOS is a primary-level organization working to promote and advance organic agriculture. Its work consists of creating spaces, providing advisory services, offering training, and primarily supporting organic agricultural production. The organization’s main challenge is to serve as a development tool for its producers, enabling them to market their products and incentivize their continued production.

The Association has 42 member families and was legally established on March 16, 2015, although it had been working for five years prior to its formation. Its work encompasses various areas: internally, training its members in organic production, focusing on three key areas: Knowledge, Soil, and Water; externally, providing environmental education to schools, colleges, and development associations; engaging in political advocacy with the Municipality of Pérez Zeledón; and participating in the national organic movement.

ASOORGÁNICOS promotes the conservation of native seeds. It works in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), the National Distance Education University (UNED), and the National Learning Institute (INA) to create synergies, promote agrochemical-free agriculture, and provide technical training in organic production. It also has an associated cooperative (CoopeOrgánicos Brunca RL) specializing in marketing and adding value to the products.
